Welcome to Be the Change

‘Be the Change’ launched in February 2014 as a concept conceived by junior doctors (F1s), based on social movement theory and inspired by the national NHS Change Day. It has since become an integral part of the ASPH QI programme.

We aim to empower all staff to identify quality improvement opportunities in their own areas and to enable people to test changes and make improvements themselves.

The vision for the programme is that it enables:

  • A structure that empowers all staff to come forward with ideas for change and improvement
  • ‘Bottom-up’ change to be accessible to all staff
  • Opportunities for ‘Change Champions’ to develop in their roles
  • Successes to be celebrated

If you are interested in getting involved, or if you are just looking for some support or inspiration to get started, you’re in the right place.

Anyone who would like to learn more about Quality Improvement can do so by coming along to one of our QI Academy days, or we would be happy to come and talk to you.  Either get in touch here or you can check when the next Academy dates are via the QI Academy page.

If you have an idea for improvement or if you have identified a problem that impacts on patients and/or staff – you can get in touch here.  Submit your idea for improvement using the ‘Be the Change’ portal and you will receive a response from a member of the team.

If you are ready to get started with your project, there are a number of useful resources, including the ‘Be the Change’ project pack to help guide you through the process.
